ABOU Lulu Wang

Lulu Wang is a filmmaker best known for her award-winning dramedy film THE FAREWELL. She’s also the co-owner of Local Time, a production company that she started with creative partner Dani Melia. Her upcoming projects include LIKE FATHER LIKE SON, a film that is set up with Focus Features, FAMILY MEAL which is set up with Apple and has Local Time and Temple Hill producing; and EXPATS, an Amazon series starring Nicole Kidman that is set to release at the end of this year. 

Inspiration for EXPATS:

“My parents and I are immigrants from China, so that forged a bond between us that is really strong,” Wang says. “What interested me about EXPATS is the way tragedy breaks a family and brings it together at the same time. This is a story about resilience, how you deal with ambiguous loss, and the notion of home when you’re not in the place where you were born and raised.”
