ABOUT Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier
Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier met while earning their MFAs from USC’s Film & Television Production program. After graduating in 2015, Juel was selected as one of five fellows for Universal’s Emerging Writers Fellowship. Juel and Tony’s TV show, BIRTH OF COOL, was ordered straight to series by BET+ with Macro, and Endeavor Content producing alongside Lena Waithe. Juel wrote CREED 2 for MGM, and then along with Tony wrote SPACE JAM 2 for Warner Brothers and SpringHill Entertainment, followed by SHOOTING STARS for Universal, SpringHill, and Terence Winter. Juel recently directed episodes of BOOMERANG and TWENTIES for Lena Waithe and BET. They are also attached to write and produce BY ALL, another original feature, which sold to Legendary in a competitive bidding war. Steven Caple Jr. is attached to star.
